The Westport Arts Center is gearing up for a fresh new season.

"I'm looking and thinking: What can I pull in that will speak to an audience and engage?"

That’s Helen Klisser During, the organizer behind the upcoming exhibtions. The first one begins in September and features photographs by Edward Burtynsyky.

"We will be featuring 17 photographs and they are quite seductive," said During.

“He does these amazing pieces -  looking at the environment and man’s impact on the environment,” said Executive Director Peter Van Heerden.

The arts center is also an attraction for kids and teens. There will be a building workshop, where students can create a three dimensional artwork.  And, those applying to colleges might be interested in a new class specifically designed to help students create portfolios.

There will also be jazz and chamber concerts monthly. Performances include Bernard Purdie and the Juiliard String Quartet, as well as international artists like the croation guitarist Ana Vidovic.

Members can go ahead and sign up for any of those programs today, while non-members can add their names to the list come Monday.
